CARY — Developers of a 3-D display called "The Vision Dome" have hatched a smaller version. Plus, if you are fed up with word processors, there is one that will turn your office on its ear. VisionStation Offers A Heightened Sensory EncounterElumensof Cary began seven years ago at Alternate Realities. The first product was a large hemispherical dome which allows several people to view 3-D simultaneously.

The newVisionStationgives you a very personal experience. It sits on the floor and becomes a workstation. Five feet wide and tall, it gives the user a sensory encounter.

The 180-degree field of view increases the amount of information you can visualize. The closer your eyes are to the screen, the more you seem to move into the scene.

The VisionStation is easy to transport, assemble and will fit where space is tight.

"Things like space design by architects, doctors, by corporate trainers, it's really mainstream customers who typically use 2-D monitors everyday to view 3-D information," says Michael Odell, Elumens CEO. IBMhas teamed with Elumens, matching its INtellistation workstation to the system. The deal allows networking several sizes of the VisionStation, giving users the ability to collaborate on designs or problems.

Speaking of designs, a new Web site gives you the opportunity to write on something that you may not be used to. Word Perhect Pokes Fun At Word ProcessorsIf you are tired of documents turned out by word processors, WordPerhect will make you smile. Its cartoon-like screens are funny in themselves.

You choose what surface you want to make a note on, such as the back of someone's pocket or on a bag, and then scribble your own messages.

You can print it, but you cannot mail it. All you can do is play with it.

WordPerhect was developed by programmers to poke a little fun at everyone's reliance on computers.
