KENANSVILLE — March 31, 1996, 4:20 p.m. The arrest of a state employee for making fake drivers' licenses may be just the beginning of a larger investigation, according to Duplin County authorities.
Sheriff George Garner says he is "expecting more arrests to come in that case shortly."
Friday, officers arrested 34-year-old Rebecca Overton and charged her with making fake North Carolina drivers' licenses. She is suspected of using equipment from the Department of Motor Vehicles to create at least a dozen licenses.
Overton faces 12 counts of receiving a bribe, conspiracy to commit bribery, and accepting money for issuing North Carolina drivers' licenses.
Garner said he doesn't want to speculate on how many people may be involved
