RALEIGH — March 25, 1996 - 10:30 a.m. EST
A Wake County deputy was in stable condition Monday following a collision that occurred as he was responding to an emergency call.
Deputy Gene Braswell was injured Sunday night after he swerved to avoid a car, drove up an embankment and ran into a tree.
Braswell was responding to an emergency call in Cary when another car cut in front of him at the intersection of Highhouse Road and N.C. 55. That car was driven by 17-year-old Eric Adams.
Adams told police he couldn't stop because his brakes wouldn't work.
Charges against Adams are pending
