K-Mart Workers Reach Temporary Agreement

Posted Updated

GREENSBORO — March 1, 1996 - 5:46 p.m. EST

Striking workers at a Greensboro K-Mart distribution center agreed to an immediate pay hike Friday.

For months, workers there have been protesting what they call unfair pay scales.

Today, they agreed to a 50-cent-an-hour increase, but say it's only an interim agreement between workers and the K-Mart Corporation.

Distribution workers say they'll continue to boycott K-Mart stores until they are paid on a par with their counterparts across the nation
