At least 20 people escaped injury Wednesday after a fire started in a storage room and burned the Roadhouse Restaurant in the 3000 block of Capital Blvd. to the ground.

Witnesses reported seeing flames coming from the building about 12:30 p.m.

Some employees told WRAL-TV5 news that the fire could have been stopped earlier. They said the sprinkler system had bee turned off after it froze during recent cold weather, and that of three fire extinguishers in the restaurant, only one worked.

The manager said he saw one employee using a fire extinguisher that appeared to be working. He said he didn't have details on the condition of the others.

There is no information on what caused the fire
