N.C. State's Thornton Eligible To Play At Semester's End

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — N.C. State officials have said basketball player Damon Thornton will be allowed to play again at the end of the semester.

On October 19, Thornton pleaded guilty to DWI after a run-in with police in which a car was damaged -- his latest in a series of legal troubles. Police testified in Wake County that Thornton had a blood-alcohol content of 0.14 percent; the state's legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Thornton will also be able to resume practices with the team immediately.

The first game Thornton would be eligible to play in is against UNC-Asheville on Dec. 22. When the team reaches that point, Thornton's future will be determined. From wire and staff reports-->
