DURHAM — The North Carolina High School Athletic Associationis honoring 50 people who have made significant contributions to high school athletics in the state. Among them was WRAL's Tom Suiter.
Suiter pioneered coverage of high school sports in the Triangle and across the state.
Each week during the school year, Suiter recognizes exceptional student-athletes with hisExtra Effort Award. During high school football season, no Friday night is complete without watching WRAL's Football Friday.
Other honorees include Russ Blunt, Willie Bradshaw, Al Beuhler, Bill Dooley, Jim Goodmon, Jerry McGee, Tim Stevens, John Swofford, Dr. LeRoy Walker and Kay Yow.
