The most stunning aspect from Carolina's opening loss, other than the score, was their lack of rushing yards.
It is an area they must improve upon as they head west for Stanford. Two of the biggest questions in Chapel Hill focus on the quarterback. Will Oscar Davenport play at all this week? And more likely, is freshman quarterback Ronald Curry ready to lead the Heels?
"There's a chance that Oscar could possibly play this weekend, if he had to this week," coach Carl Torbush said. "Hopefully, we'll be able to get some things done without using Oscar. The following week we feel like Oscar will hopefully be full speed."
Davenport underwent arthroscopic surgery after injuring his left knee on opening night. He is back practicing with the team and is listed day to day.
However, the QB position is just a small problem compared to the running game. The Heels gained just 87 yards on 30 attempts last week begging the question, who is to blame?
Torbush thinks something else might work. He moved sophomore Tyrell Godwin, a heralded high school running back turned defensive back, back to offense.
Carolina's offense took another blow Tuesday. Starting guard Jon Hall was suspended after he was served with an arrest warrant for threats and misdemeanor assault against a female student.
After being upset last week, changes are definitely in order for the Tar Heels.
