Fun is the Name of the Game for Wake Christian Star

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — We're at Wake Christian Academy to honor senior, Jordan Lycan. She's this week's Extra Effort Award winner.

Jordan is the leader of the Wake Christian basketball team, who this Saturday will defend its state Christian school championship. Jordan is a true point-guard. She could score more, but wants everybody involved.

"She wants to make everyone around her the best," boasts Coach Rusty Carroll. "By doing that, she makes herself better. She does everything for this team. She's the leader of the Bulldogs."

Jordan admits it's her job as a senior and as a point-guard to make sure everyone excels. If the team loses, and she still looks good, Jordan believes something will have gone wrong.

This attitude makes Jordan respected around the Wake Christian campus. Coach Carroll says even if things aren't going Jordan's way, you'll never see her frown.

"As a basketball player, I think everyone needs for everyone to enjoy the game," Jordan says. "That's the reason you play. It's not to go on and play college. It's not to score points. I think the more fun I have, the more I hope to help everyone else have fun."

Jordan is an excellent student with a 3.5 grade point average. Teacher Bob Lynch believes Jordan has an integrity and an honesty about her that other students don't have. Her love for learning, as well as her devotion to God and people make Jordan a success.

Jordan Lycan of Wake Christian Academy is this week's winner of the Extra Effort Award.
