RALEIGH, N.C. — An accused sex offender who was mistakenly released from prison failed to appear in court Monday morning as a result of another mistake.
Devan Black is accused of molesting two children he met while leading a church youth group in Dunn.
Black was released from prison three months early because of a paperwork mix-up. A judge however wants Black to finish his sentence.
Police in Vermont, where Black now lives, never served him with the court summons.
Black's new court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday.
