Stray Cats Land Durham Man In Court

DURHAM, N.C. — A cat fight in Durham landed a man in court.

Richard Best, a resident of the Warehousecondominiums, belongs to an animal rescue group andstarted feeding cats outside of a condo.

When neighborscomplained about the cats and Best did not stopfeeding them, thehomeowner's association took him to court.

"We had no choice. The bylaws were set up to say that if our bylawswere being broken and the person will not correct the thing that ishappening, then you take them to court," says Susan Allen of thehomeowner's association.

Under the court order, Best is not allowed tofeed cats within 100 feet of the condominiumcomplex.
