<b>GARNER, N.C.</b> — Firefighters in Garner were busy overnight battling two house fires.<br />

Authorities said the first fire started at around 2 a.m. Monday at 507 Kenway Street. The flames damaged part of the home and the garage. Officials said a car inside the garage was destroyed.<br />

Around 30 minutes after the first fire, a second one broke out at 2008 Muirfield Ridge Drive. Officials said the house was under construction in a new neighborhood. No one was inside at the time.

Mykia Daniel, an eighth grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh apartment. A 16-year-old was charged with her murder.
