<b>ROANOKE RAPIDS</b> — A 3-year-old Halifax County boy is dead after he shot himself with his parents' gun, authorities say.

Lamar Watson died Sunday morning at Pitt Co. Memorial Hospital in Greenville.  Investigators say he shot himself inside a Roanoke Rapids home Saturday afternoon.  The bullet hit Watson in the left side of the head.

He was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center, but was later flown to Greenville.

Investigators say it is too early to say whether anyone will be charged in the case.
