Several shots were fired into a Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) bus located in downtown Durham around 8 p.m.
One of the bullets hit a female passenger in the lower back. Police say there were more than a dozen people on board at the time of the shooting.
Police arrested James Daye, 16, of Durham and Mike Brown, 19, of Henderson. They are charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
At least five bullets were fired into the bus. The victim, who has not been identified yet, was taken to Duke University Medical Center. Police say she suffered a minor wound.
"The bus driver drove from Holloway Street where the shooting occurred. He saw one of our officers on patrol, flagged the officer down and the officer stopped," says Lt. C.M. Allen of the Durham Police Department.
