Tourism leaders say many people do not know what there is to do in their own community. They hope a new 30-minute program will help guide residents to local attractions.
The Nature Center at Clark Park is a favorite for Matthew Liebl and his brother Evan. Their parents take them there as much as they can.
"There are puzzles, animals to see, trails to go on, lots of good things for the kids to do," says father Richard Liebl.
The ranger calls Clark Park one of Fayetteville's best kept secrets, but soon everyone could learn about it.
TheFayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureauhas launched a new television show titled "Fun in the Fayetteville Area."
"We want our community to be strong and know all the great things about Fayetteville," says bureau president Doug Traub.
"We also have a highly transient community, so it's for folks coming in and out of our community all the time to know what to do here."
Seventeen percent of tourists in Fayetteville are here for visits with family. The show will also give ideas on how to entertain them, including trips to the Cape Fear Theatre, the Fascinate U Museum, and soon the new Airborne Museum.
Jack Steiner loves to look for bears on Bear Trail, a favorite spot for family walks that many others could enjoy.
"A lot of people say there's nothing to do in Fayetteville, and if they were more aware maybe they'd get out and try something new," Elena Steiner says.
A new program will be produced each season. In the Fayetteville area, you can see the program on Time Warner Cable, Channel 7.
