BUXTON — The Cape Lightshines once again.

Saturday afternoon, National Park Service rangers climbed to the top of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and flipped the switch, lighting the beacon for the first time in months.

The beacon had been dark ever since crews moved the 4,800-ton tower half a mile away from the ocean.

The relighting was originally scheduled for Labor Day weekend, but was washed out by Hurricane Dennis.
