Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The case of a missing 12-year-old Raleigh girl has now turned into a rape and kidnapping investigation.

A family acquaintance, 43-year-old Ollie Bellamy, was charged with second degree kidnapping and statutory rape.

Police say during the eight days the girl was missing, she and Bellamy traveled as far away as Arizona and California.

The girl's mother says she saw no warning signs of trouble between Bellamy and her daughter. Bellamy has lived with the family for about a year.

Police say he dropped the girl off in Durham. He was later arrested in Wilmington.
