FAYETTEVILLE — Police in Fayetteville are looking into the suspicious death of a Pope airman.

Autopsy reports show Albert Adams, 34, was shot more than once in the head.

Adams was found dead by his wife in their house at 886 Ridge Road at 7 p.m. Thursday. Detectives say materials nearby indicate he may have been tied up.

Sgt. Adams had been in the Air Force for 15 years. He had been stationed with the 743rd Maintenance Squadron as a crew chief since he moved to the area in November.

"He was an exceptional trooper. He was one of those individuals treasured to have in the organization," says Maj. Scott Haines. "We were really looking forward to enlisting him this fall. He was a tremendous asset to the organization."

Friday afternoon, investigators were back in the neighborhood asking residents and motorists if they noticed anything unusual in the area.
