DURHAM — Fast food and fast cars teamed up for a special announcement atDuke University Medical CenterTuesday.
Hardeesdonated $1 million toward building the new Children's Health Center.
NASCARdrivers Jeff Burton, Chad Little and Kevin Lapage joined the celebration as the fund raising goal climbed closer to the $30 million mark.
"It's a special day," said NASCAR driver Jeff Burton. "We all talk about the hospital here, the children's hospital, and to be part of something that's actually helping is really something special."
The new health center is already under construction. If all goes as scheduled, it should be finished by this time next year.
