FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville police put the brakes on a major heroin shipment.
Drug agents found 100 grams of heroin on a Greyhound bus while it was on a Fayetteville layover. The estimated street value of the shipment is $400,000.
Investigators say Ronald Martin had it in his luggage. He was going from New York to South Carolina.
"The officers opened up the bag, which he was observed holding earlier that afternoon," says Sgt. Mike Todd of the Fayetteville Police Department. "When they opened the bag, they located two large baseball-size taped-up objects resembling the packaging of heroin."
Martin is charged with trafficking heroin. He is being held in the Cumberland County jail with bond set at $500,000.
