Posted May 8, 2007

— Durham police have arrested a suspect a shooting death that happened Monday evening.

Thomas Eugene Caraway, 19, of 3007 Angier Avenue was arrested Tuesday morning on Wabash Street. He was placed in Durham County Jail without bond.

Police were dispatched to a shooting call at Caraway's residence about 8:20 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found Sheridan Pierce Glenn, 19, of East End Avenue, who had been shot in the abdomen. He was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Officers believe the shooting took place at 3005 Angier Ave., which is an abandoned house. Glenn and Caraway were acquaintances, police said.

Investigators recovered a shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting. No motive has been determined and investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Durham Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at (919) 560-4440 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.

Sheridan will be missed by many. He was an inspiration to alot of people. He was really a good guy, always smiling and joking. I am glad I had the chance to meet him and get to know him personally. To Sheridan's family and friends.....keep your heads up and ASAP (Always Say A Prayer)! To the children out there...please for God's sake stop the violence. If you're lost and can't find your way just ask God to help you and he will see you through, I promise, I am a living witness. Life is so much better than crime and violence.

"still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting".....Are you kidding me?? What do you thing 2 young males are doing in an abandoned house with a gun?

What a waste! One 19-year-old dead and the other in police custody. These young men could have become good citizens that made a positive impact in their community. Instead, they decided to live on the wrong side of the law and now look where they are.

Two more wasted young lives, two more devasted families. I pray to God that people wake up and realize what they are doing not only to their victim and their family, but to their own family.

Why arrest anyone in Durham If Nifong is still in office that should tell everybody something right there. What you going to do have a crook try a killer?

Ok I live right off angier and it's good I wasn't home last night at that time... I was getting brakes on my car. It's always something though. I don't think anyone really realizes how bad it is there. Unless of course you live there in the middle of it like me. Something about going to sleep to gunshot's every night just bother me. And as for the police I don't see them do hardly anything until someone is dead or shooting. We have crack-heads everywhere and hookers. Not to mention all the gang-bangers. Get the movie WELCOME TO DURHAM USA... That will show you the type of people roaming the streets.

What I posted wasnt insensitive. The pupose of posting is to discuss peoples opinions. If someone felt as if it was relevant enough to post then we as forum posters/readers have the right to question their opinion. No one said anything disrespectful or out of the way and if you did read then you would understand the relevance to what S.O.L. stated. We are aware that someone was killed. Comments were posted accordingly. Dont be so quick to condemn. It is a "discussion" board. Have a good day.
