Marine Plane Crashes on Approach to Cherry Point Air Station
The Grumman US-2B was to have been on display at an air show this weekend.
Posted — UpdatedFive people were on the Grunmman US-2B Tracker that was coming into the base in connection with an air show , officials said. Four were reported to be walking after the crash.
The base, home to the 2nd Marine Air Wing, said the Tracker was to be part of a static display during the show.
It was not immediately known if anyone on the ground was hurt.
Power was knocked out in parts of Havelock.
The Tracker, formerly know by its Navy designation as S2F and nicknamed the "Stoof," was designed for carrier operatrions against submarines.
