FAYETTEVILLE — Hurricane Irene has caused some problems in Cumberland County.
Hard, driving rain pounded the area all day but only a few sections of road had to be closed.
High water shut down Manchester road near Pope Air Force base.
Emergency management workers say residents need to watch out for trees that may fall down because of the saturated ground.
Downed trees could also knock out power lines. Crews are on stand-by to restore power if needed.
Meanwhile, Hallwood Drive residents in Hope Mills are being evacuated because of high waters.
A shelter at Southview High School will open at 6:30 Sunday night.
