JOHNSTON COUNTY — Firefighters are battling a brush fire along Interstate 40 in Johnston County.
As of noon, several acres of grass and brush were burning just north of the Highway 42 overpass. Lots of smoke, but no flames were visible at that time from WRAL's Sky5.
Traffic along I-40 was not affected, but a change in wind could cause problems and possible detours later in the day.
Several fire trucks are near the scene. There is no word on how the fire started.
