Authorities said Jorge Hernandez fatally shot a woman and took her 1-year-old daughter.

<b>NEW BERN, N.C.</b> — A man who allegedly killed his child's mother Thursday has been captured, according to Craven County Sheriff's officials.

According to authorities, Jorge Angel Hernandez, 22, allegedly dropped off his 1-year-old daughter, Junni Angel Rios, at an aunt's house in Pitt County and later shot and killed the girl's mother, whose name was not released.

A statewide Amber Alert was issued shortly after 6 p.m. because authorities could not find the girl. The alert was canceled after the toddler was found unharmed.

Hernandez was reportedly found a short time later.
