School Fire Called Suspicious

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The new Wakefield High School is suppose to open its doors to students on Monday. But the new school is already slightly tarnished.

About 9:15 Friday night, a fire broke out at the school on Wakefield Pines Drive.

A damage assessment will be made, and the investigation will continue Saturday.

Fire officials say the fire seems suspicious.

Arson investigators were at the school Friday night trying to determine how the fire started.

No word yet if classes will be affected by the fire.

The school is part of the Wakefield Plantation development off Falls of the Neuse Road in Northeast Raleigh.
