Infant Dies in I-95 Wreck

Posted Updated

ROLAND — An early morning pile-up on I-95 in Robeson County has left a baby boy dead.

The crash occurred just two miles north of the South Carolina border, near the town of Roland.

State Troopers say a Mustang traveling north sideswiped a Pathfinder, then slammed into another truck, a GMC Jimmy.

The Jimmy rolled over three times, ejecting a car seat carrying a 1-year-old boy.

The infant was killed.

Two other people in the Jimmy are in serious condition.

Four more people involved in the accident were treated and released. Three others were also involved in the accident, but they were unharmed.

There has been no word on whether charges will be filed.
