UNC Bonds Under Fire

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — The group that helped defeat the Wake County school bond package wants the same fate for a bond proposal at the University of North Carolina.

Citizens for a Sound Economy says it will push for a public vote on a multi-billion-dollar bond proposal from the UNC system.

The UNC system wants the North Carolina General Assembly to approve limited obligation bonds.

That would not require voter approval.

Chuck Fuller, who leads the citizens group, says voters should have a say in such a large expenditure.
