Pastor at Dix After Disturbance

Posted Updated

GARNER — A Wake County pastor who allegedly shot up his home has been taken to Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh.

Wednesday night Wake County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at the pastor's home.

Deputies say that Pastor Jerry Hopkins, who lives next door to Mount Herman Christian Church, had fired more than 20 rounds.

Deputies subdued Hopkins when he came out the back door, armed with a shotgun and pistol.

No charges have been filed pending his mental evaluation.

Mount Herman Christian Church members have scheduled a Saturday night meeting to discuss their situation.
