<b>LILLINGTON</b> — Harnett County deputies are searching for a man who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend in the head.

It happened shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday at the Pinecrest Nursing home in Lillington.

Deputies say nurse's assistant Connie Kearn was leaving when the suspect shot her in the head.

The woman was taken to Good Hope Hospital where she was treated and released.

The nursing home has 55 residents, none of whom was in danger from the  shooting.

"There's no threat. There's no firearm," Deputy Chief Rico Boyce said at the press conference. "A student made the principal aware that there's someone on campus with a firearm."
