RALEIGH — Organizers for the United Cerebral Palsy telethon have something to celebrate: television viewers.
Thanks to their donations, WRAL-TV5 was able to raise $328,462 during Star Fest '99, which was staged Sunday. Many of WRAL's news anchors and reporters participated, along with former news anchor Charlie Gaddy and renowned track coach and former NCCU chancellor LeRoy Walker.
Eighty-six cents of each dollar raised will support programs that help people living with cerebral palsy and for research on the neurological condition.
WRAL-TV5 thanks all who watched and called in pledges, and all the many volunteers who made the telethon possible.
