Suspect Arrested, Another Sought In Shooting Of Harnett County Teacher

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Harnett County investigators have identified two suspects in the October drive-by shooting that paralyzed a Bunnlevel woman.

On Saturday, Harnett County sheriff's investigators arrested James Arthur Judd, 20, of Lillington, and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with the intent to kill. Warrants were also issued for Milton Terrell "Tookie" Matthews, 20.

Both men face multiple charges in the shooting of Cynthia Patterson.

Authorities say Patterson, a teacher at South Harnett School, was lying in bed on the evening of Oct. 11 when several shots were fired into her residence at

2776 McLean Chapel Church Road

. One gunshot hit Patterson in her upper body and left her paralyzed from the waist down.
