The group of protesters was comprised mostly of members of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, but other groups were represented as well. Their joint message was that bombing in Iraq is not the best response to current tensions in the Middle East.
Protest organizer Rania Masri told WRAL-TV5'sMark Robertsthat the US and its allies don't have their facts straight.
The protest group has taken its message to various sites in Raleigh, including Hillsborough Street and the Capitol. They say they are protesting because they think the bombing is imminent, and they want people to understand that it may be the wrong thing to do.
As the group entered Fayetteville Street Mall, members said they would carry coffins symbolizing the innocent people who have been and will be killed by US bombing of Iraq.
The core group of protesters consisted of about 25 people, although the size of the group varied throughout the protest.
