ZEBULON — A Wendell man died after he fell off a moped Friday night and was run over by another vehicle.
About 8 p.m., Barry English, 37, was riding the motorized bike along NC 97 near the Little River.
He fell from the moped, and traffic on the road swerved to avoid him.
Highway Patrol trooper J.C. Howell said the road was dark, and it would have been difficult to see English on the pavement.
It's not known what vehicle hit him. Several motorists who stopped told the patrol they had not seen the accident.
