RALEIGH, N.C. — A former Southeast Raleigh High School assistant principal accused of inappropriate contact with a male student a year ago will go to trial in June.

Larry Ray Jewell pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of taking indecent liberties with a minor. A June 11 trial date was set.

Raleigh police said an incident allegedly occurred at Southeast Raleigh High last spring involving a male student.

Jewell also faces 46 sex-related charges in Harnett County and is being held in the Harnett County Jail on a $3.25 million bond.

According to the Dunn Police Department and the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, those charges stem from alleged abuse dating to 1999. But Jewell's attorney has said his client has been set up by the accuser and Jewell's estranged wife.
