RALEIGH — People are cranking up their air conditioners to battle the heat and that's led to a new usage record for Carolina Power and Light.
Monday at 5 p.m., CP&L said air conditioners, lights, and other electrical appliances used 10,352 mega-watts of power. That broke the old record set just this past June.
The power company expected to set another new record Tuesday afternoon.
