OXFORD — A portion of northbound Interstate-85 was closed to traffic for about two-and-a-half hours Thursday afternoon. A tractor-trailer overturned in the Northbound lane of I-85 near Oxford in Granville County.
While that section of the interstate was closed, traffic was detoured onto Highway 96.
No other vehicles were involved. The driver of the truck, Carlos Clark of Atlanta, was treated and released from a hospital.
The accident occurred in a construction zone. The driver told the North Carolina Highway Patrol that one of his right wheels ran off the pavement onto the soft, muddy shoulder of the road, causing his rig to overturn.
He will not be cited for the mishap.
