Severe Weather Hits North Carolina

RALEIGH — The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a series of severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings throughout central North Carolina Tuesday night.

Strong winds in Catawba county knocked a tree down onto a mobile home with four people inside. A 5-year-old had to be treated for injuries to her legs. List of Piedmont Counties:

The Storm Prediction Center issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of Central and Northern North Carolina until 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The storm could produce hail up to two inches in diameter, wind gusts up to 70 mph and dangerous lightning for the following areas in the Piedmont:

Theweather servicesaid that this storm has a history of large hail, and advise going inside a sturdy building and staying away from windows.

Spotters reported trees down and funnel clouds in Northern Davidson county early Tuesday night.
