<b>MAXTON</b> — A CSX freight train and a car collided late Wednesday morning at a crossing near Maxton in Robeson County.

A man and a child were thrown from the vehicle upon impact. Both were rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There is  no word yet on the cause of the accident or the identitied of the victims.
