Johnston County Airport Protesters Sentenced

Posted Updated

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A group of people accused of trespassing last November outside the Johnston County Airport were sentenced Thursday.

The 14 protesters arrested Nov. 18 each received a 10-day suspended jail sentence, a $50 fine and had to pay court costs.

The group members wanted officials to investigate Aero Contractors Limited, a company that operates at the airport. Protesters think the group is linked to secret CIA operations.

The group members plan to appeal their sentences.
