Posted Updated

COATS, N.C. — The paperwork is filed, and a case involving the Coats police chief could head to federal court.

Durwood Stallings said he was wrongfully fired, but weeks later, he was reinstated.

The judge said town leaders illegally fired Stallings and the town clerk on Dec. 12.

Town board members voted to file paperwork to move the case from a Harnett County court to the federal level.
