FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was charged Tuesday with the first-degree murder of his 11-week-old son, who authorities said died from complications of shaken baby syndrome.

Tyrone Patten, 20, was arrested last Thursday and charged with attempted first-degree murder and three counts of felony child abuse, inflicting serious bodily injury.

Emergency workers were dispatched to Patten's home on Dec. 27, where they found Patten's son to be non-responsive.

Patten remains in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. He is scheduled to appear in District Court Wednesday.
