Egg-citement Fills Cary Park

Posted Updated

CARY — Forget the rules. It was every kid for himself at the 25th Annual Cary Easter Egg Hunt. An estimated 3,000 kids took the challenge to find more than 8,000 easter eggs-- some edible, some filled with prizes. Congratulations! You have won special prize #3.

Kids weren't shy about demonstrating their skills. They say the secret was you had to be fast.

"I had run really faster than other children," said one little egg hunter. "There were a lot of eggs in one spot. I had to run everywhere."

The hunt has become a Cary tradition. Many say it's the biggest thing happening all year long in Bond Park. In the end, fast or slow, there were plenty eggs to go around. Everyone went home thankful for a full basket.

Easter egg hunts are taking place all over the Triangle this weekend. Saturday, there is a hunt at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If you're in Orange County, you can head to the Triangle Sportsplex in Hillsborough for an egg hunt from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
