A motor vehicle accident turned into a homicide investigation Saturday night after police found the driver of a crashed car had been shot, they said Sunday.

A green Dodge Durango hit a utility pole at Maple Avenue and Hanford Road at about 9:30 p.m., Command Sgt. Maj. Jay Smith said. Responding officers found Jemario Shante Scott, 21, of 1621 Fourth St. in Hickory. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith said police had no suspects, and they asked anyone with information to contact city Burlington police at 336-229-3500 or Alamance County Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.

yes, there's always something going on, but mom will say her son was innocent.

why will I not be surprised to learn the "victim" had an extensive crimimnal record????? WHY?

I hope the truck wasn't stolen. It's probably demolished.

I hope this will not turn into a random act. I hope they find the shooter...so sad for his family.
