WRAL-Habitat Home Nearing Completion in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE — It's week three and the first of WRAL's Habitat for Humanity Homes is starting to look like home to a Fayetteville family. In just a few weeks, Cynthia Edwards and her two children will have a home of their own. Their house will join dozens of others in a neighborhood that consists entirely of Habitat homes Habitat Village was established in 1992 in Fayetteville. The city donated 50 lots for the homes.

Sara Purcell moved to Habitat Village 2-years-ago with her sister and two children. She says she's very proud of her home and equally proud of her neighborhood.

As each new house goes up, the community looks forward to another proud homeowner joining the neighborhood. They say,in addition to helping each other build their homes, neighbors are also building a new community together.

Edwards and children Danielle and Willie can't wait for moving day. The Edwards home is the sixth under construction. There are only 16 lots left in Habitat Village. Cynthia and her children are looking forward to having their own home.

There's a sense of pride for the volunteers working on the habitat houses too. Members of Fayetteville Tech Community College's carpentry class say it feels good to give something back to the community.
