RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities are searching for three people in connection with a weekend kidnapping in Apex.

Wake County deputies said 25-year-old Vernon Harris II was kidnapped Sunday night from the 3000 block of Holland Road, but was released Monday afternoon after his family paid a ransom. Investigators said Harris was in "good condition."

An investigation led authorities to a Ramada Inn on West Lyon Station Road in Butner, but before they could make an arrest, the suspects fled the motel in a red four-door compact car, authorities said.

One of the suspects was identified as Margaret Louise Singletary, 24, of Shari Court in Durham; she is wanted for first-degree kidnapping. The other two suspects, men, have yet to be identified.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Singletary's whereabouts to contact the Wake County Sheriff's Office at

after business hours.
