HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Two PETA employees charged with dumping dead animals in a trash bin face new charges.

The Hertford County grand jury indicted Andrew Cook and Adria Hinkle for euthanizing dogs and cats.

The pair is accused of promising workers at animal shelters that the pets would be adopted, then dumping them.

The indictment covers more than two dozen charges of animal cruelty and illegal disposal.

Cook and Hinkle are expected to stand trial later in November.
