Chapel Hill Police Seek Assailant in Attempted Rape

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape and sexual assault.

The victim, a Chapel Hill woman in her 50s, reported that she was walking on Umstead Drive near Bradley Road at about 10:15 p.m. Monday when an assailant grabbed her from behind and wrestled her into a wooded area.

Police said the man took her bag, which contained personal items, and ran off.

The assailant is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, who is about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He has short hair and no facial hair.

Anyone with information about the crime should call either the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or CrimeStoppers at 919-942-7515.

Yeah, WRAL has been pretty misleading this week with headlines. If there is more to the story that leads the police and reporters to think it was attempted rape, then that should be included in the article in order to back up the claim the headline makes. Shoddy newswriting WRAL.

lol.. how do you know the composite is good? You will only know if the person is caught and his face is compared to the composite...and if you do your research, there is more to the story that the WRAL reported didn't report.
