Chapel Hill Police Seek Assailant in Attempted Rape

Chapel Hill police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape and sexual assault.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape and sexual assault.

The victim, a Chapel Hill woman in her 50s, reported that she was walking on Umstead Drive near Bradley Road at about 10:15 p.m. Monday when an assailant grabbed her from behind and wrestled her into a wooded area.

Police said the man took her bag, which contained personal items, and ran off.

The assailant is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, who is about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He has short hair and no facial hair.
