Reports Of Bicycle Thefts Up At UNC-Chapel Hill

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Campus police said Tuesday that the number of bicycle thefts are on the rise at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Since Sept. 13, seven people have reported having their bicycles stolen.

Campus police said they were not sure whether the motive for the thefts was high gasoline prices or a crime of opportunity.

Officers said bicycle owners should use a metal U-shaped lock to protect their bikes.
