RALEIGH, N.C. — Investigators say the same man who called to report two fires in Carolina Beach intentionally set them.
One of those fires destroyed a Carolina Beach landmark. The historic Astor Hotel burned to the ground in June.
After the fire, investigators determined it was arson.
Investigators later arrested John Shannon. They believe Shannon also started another fire in Carolina Beach two days earlier.
